It’s already been five years since the Packers played on Thanksgiving (2015 for you math wizards) and they didn’t even play the Lions in that contest. After the offseason each of these teams had, it doesn’t appear the Packers have much of a chance to fare any better the next time around so we might as well get it out of the way first. They open the home schedule a week later on September 20th against the Lions. The Packers will open their season on the road on September 13th in Minneapolis. In fact, Green Bay is just 1-4 in their last five games at the 49ers. The Green Bay Packers released their 2020 schedule tonight, featuring 5 prime time games and a heavy early-season schedule. Green Bay got straight whooped in their two trips to San Fran last season, losing both games by a combined score of 74-28. When I eat my meals, I always eat the food I enjoy the least first so I can get it out of the way and savor the better foods on my plate. Before we get there, however, let’s make three predictions about the Packers’ schedule. The schedule release is a fun time for fans, as it allows a season that feels years away to become just a little more real. And, although the Green Bay Packers already know their opponents, they’ll find out when they play who. It’s murky if the NFL will begin their season on time due to the COVID crisis, but it’s clear the league is moving forward as planned with the release of their 2020 schedule on Thursday night.
